The VC1 cufflinks are produced by a CNC lathe and made of 100% recyclable aluminium. They are anodised for a strong and lasting finish. With zero moving parts, these cufflinks will last a lifetime. Intrigued by making something beautiful and decorative using industrial machinery, David Ericsson designed a pair of cufflinks that is the machine operatorsÕ and the wearersÕ best friend. Every detail and angle is not only carefully proportioned but also made to fit the machine and the tools by which they are made. For example, the bottom angle in the cone in the front end of the cufflink is 118 degrees, the standard tip angle of a drill. The cufflinks are extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear.

VOID Watches was originally launched in 2008 by Swedish designer David Ericsson. What started as a side project to a career in design and engineering turned into a full time job and eventually a small company. Our watches not only tell time, they also tell the story of turning ideas into reality. We want our watches to inspire, not only by how they look but by what they represent; the drive to always create and always improve.
Simplicity is at the core of our design philosophy, a philosophy strongly rooted in our Swedish heritage. We prefer simple shapes and use materials that are best suited for the purpose. We pay attention to the details and we never compromise on quality.
In astronomy, voids are the empty spaces between filaments, the largest structures in the Universe, that contain few, or no, galaxies. Voids typically have a diameter of 40 to 500 million light years, so large that we can’t even begin to grasp their vastness. In this they are similar to the concept of time, something that is always present but not to be seen or touched, only to be measured.

David Ericsson is a Swedish designer currently based in Hong Kong. After graduating with a master degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, he started to work for one of Sweden’s largest industrial design firms, where he gradually shifted his attention towards product design. With a technical background, his design approach is often to keep things simple, but with a unique twist.

David Ericsson.
